Happy New Year to all our members and their families. At Miami Firefighters Federal Credit Union, we wish you health, happiness and a prosperous 2020.
A start to the New Year is the perfect time to assess your goals as they relate to your family, your career, your life. Here at the credit union, we have decided that in this New Year 2020, we will change our printed quarterly newsletter to a monthly e-Newsletter- we are GOING GREEN! We have found that you are reading your emails more than you read our printed newsletter, so going green allows us to keep you informed while helping save the planet.
With that said, our monthly e-Newsletter will be highlighting everything you need to know to get the most from your credit union membership. We will send you the best ways to save, the easiest way to take out a loan, the latest info on financial fitness and your credit score, tips on how you can avoid fraud, etc.

2019: The Year in Review
The past year was a stellar year for the Credit Union in many ways. We have helped many members conquer financial obstacles and attain their lifelong dreams of buying a home, driving the car they have always wanted and retiring in a healthy way. We share with you some of our brightest achievements:
- Total Consumer loans exceeded $21 MILLION
- Total Mortgage loans exceeded $14 MILLION.
- Deposits increased to $100 MILLION.
- Assets increased to over $113 MILLION.
- Capital strength increased from 9.79 to 10.20.
- Net income increased to over $1.3 MILLION.
- We are a Bauer Financial 5 Star institution for safety and soundness
CLASS A MONEY MARKET
During the year, we introduced the “Class A Money Market Savings Account” which allows us to pay higher dividends to members who do fewer than 6 transactions per month.
FIRELive!
We also introduced FIRELive! We pride ourselves on being at the leading edge of technology that permits an in-branch like experience through smart phones, tablets and computers using two way video communication. FIRELive! creates a more personal and secure way to communicate with us about your accounts, loans or anything related to your financial picture.
Debit Card Text Fraud Alerts
To ensure the safety of your debit card, we added text fraud alerts. This service allows you to instantly keep tabs on suspicious debit card activity.
Coming Soon: Credit Card Alerts
As of January 12, 2020, you will also receive fraud alerts for your credit cards. Be sure we have your mobile phone contact information so we can notify you of any suspicious activity.
Membership Growth
During 2019 we also continued to grow; we welcomed employees of Miramar Firefighters Local 2820 to our field of membership.
