Description

Individuals in this position are responsible for supporting Miami Firefighters Federal Credit Union’s mission of delivering high-value financial services to our members with integrity and excellence. The Universal Banker position is a multifaceted role that combines traditional teller transactions, new account openings, loan origination, and member relationship development.

  1. This position is responsible for greeting and welcoming members and visitors to the credit union in a courteous, professional, and timely manner. Provide prompt, efficient, and accurate service to credit union members.
  2. Know, comply, and understand all MFFCU policies and procedures, rules, and regulations to ensure compliance is maintained.
  3. Maintain compliance with all credit union policies and regulatory requirements, including BSA/AML, CIP, and OFAC.
  4. Responsible for understanding and applying policies and procedures to meet regulatory requirements relating to anti-money laundering. Bank Secrecy Act (BSA), Customer Identification Program, and OFAC.
  • Alerts supervisor, or management to any suspicious activity regarding transactions including forgery, theft, fraud, kiting, members who appear to be avoiding a CTR (cash transaction reporting).
  • Obtain refresher BSA/AML training at least annually, as scheduled by the COO/Compliance Officer.
  1. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of robbery procedures.
  2. Complete training courses as assigned.
  3. Provide members with all necessary information for membership.
  4. Open new deposit accounts and prepare related applications, identification documents, and required disclosures.
  5. Process member transactions including deposits, withdrawals, loan payments, check cashing, and account transfers, temporary check, statement requests, etc.
  6. Respond to inquiries related to checking and savings accounts, certificates of deposit, debit cards, credit cards, account status, and discrepancies.
  7. Assist members with online banking, password resets, mobile banking, bill payment, Zelle, etc.
  8. Assist members with loan applications.
  9. Identify member needs and recommend products and services that align with their financial goals, including credit cards, loans, and digital banking tools.
  10. Issue/Entry into safe deposit boxes, following credit union procedures.
  1. Promote and cross-sell current promotions, contests, and new account features and any other credit union services.
  2. Ensure all documents are properly scanned into member accounts.
  3. Participate in community outreach efforts and support financial literacy and awareness initiatives.
  4. Report unusual account activity or suspected fraud to the appropriate personnel.
  5. Notarize documents as needed.
  6. Supports the goals of the credit union through effective teamwork.
  7. Other duties not listed, as assigned.

  8. Excellent verbal and written communication skills; bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.
  9. Strong attention to detail, ability to multi-task, and prioritize effectively.

Education and/or Experience

  1. Minimum two-year experience in the areas of member service and overall branch operations.
  2. High school diploma or general education (GED).
  3. Bilingual (English and Spanish) a plus
